How we use Reddit
UFO Decoder is a free, non-commercial archive of UFO and UAP sightings. Our live sighting radar maps new sighting reports posted to r/UFOs.
What we read
Every ten minutes, a read-only app checks r/UFOs for new public posts flaired “Sighting”. It reads each post’s title, the first few lines of text, the posting time, and its link. It never posts, comments, votes or sends messages, and it doesn’t log in as any user.
What we show
From each post we work out the place named, the date, the shape and the number of objects, and we pin it on the sighting radar at the town or city mentioned. We show the post title and link straight to the original post on Reddit. We don’t show usernames, and we never pin anyone’s exact location.
What we don’t do
We don’t collect personal information, build profiles of users, sell or license Reddit data, or use it to train AI models. Posts that are removed by moderators or deleted by their authors are taken off the map when we next check.
Rate limits
The app stays well within Reddit’s API limits: one small batch of requests every ten minutes.
